Dr NA Mark Estes III is an accomplished Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and Director of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellows Program at the Heart and Vascular Institute at UPMC. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with an undergraduate degree and was elected to AOA at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Estes completed his medical training at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, followed by cardiology at Tufts Medical Center, and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital.
With over three decades of experience as the Director of the New England Cardiac Arrhythmia Center, Dr. Estes has a wealth of expertise in cardiac electrophysiology. In 2018, he joined the team at UPMC in Pittsburgh, where he continues to make a difference in the field of medicine.
Dr Estes has held several prestigious positions, including serving as the President of the Heart Rhythm Society, Chair of the AHA Council of Clinical Cardiology, and Chairman of the Board of Moses Brown School. Additionally, he serves as the Editor-In-Chief of the Cardiovascular Section of UpToDate, and on the editorial board of 11 other journals. Dr. Estes was also the Chair of the AHA Scientific Publishing Committee from 2017-2021 and currently serves on the ABIM Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners Test Writing Committees.
Dr. Estes is a highly respected physician and has been recognized as a Best Doctor in Boston (1997-2018) and Pittsburgh (2019-2020). He has contributed significantly to the field of medicine, with over 600 publications, including authorship or co-authorship of 9 books.
